Poas Volcano and La Paz waterfalls

A Costa Rica Tour Not to be Missed

Less than 45 minuts from the Costa Rica Boutique Hotel LaCatalina Suites Poás Volcano is a true symbol of the geo-thermal forces that ultimately formed the country of Costa Rica, with its rain-fed lake surrounded by the rising smoke and steam. The crater itself is approximately 1,050 feet deep and nearly one mile across, making it the largest active volcano in the world.

Travelers should also consider taking a hike through Poás Volcano National Park if the clouds are already covering the crater. This gives one an opportunity to view the impressive wildlife at the park while waiting for the clouds to clear out for the day.

Some of the wildlife that you will find at Poás Volcano National Park are the amazing cloud forest birds, including hummingbirds, tanagers, toucanets, the clay-colored robin and the stunning quetzal. An additional attraction in Poas National Park is Botos lagoon with deep blue waters contrast with the dense tropical forest that surround it.

Also don't miss the La Paz Costa Rica Waterfalls Gardens

When you think about Costa Rica, you probably imagine lush tropical Rain Forests, flowing white rivers, spectacular waterfalls, birds, butterflies and flowers. La Paz Waterfall Gardens is located only 4o minutes from La Catalina Costa Rica Boutique Hotel and just 10 minutes from the Poás Volcano. Here you will find all that you expect to experience in Costa Rica: lush rainforests, majestic waterfalls, fluttering butterflies and whimsical hummingbirds.

We always recommend to our guest to leave early in the morning (around 8 a.m.) to view the Poas Volcano so they will have more chances to see the Volcano Crater and spend more time at these two amazing places. On the highway going to Poas and La Paz you will see lots of people selling strawberrys (Costa Rica is a big strawberry country) - prices are good and the strawberrys are delicious!

We Highly recommend this amazing places to all the tourist traveling to Costa Rica. If you need more information about these Costa Rica tours our front desk Boutique Hotel Costa Rica staff will be happy to help you in found the best way to get there.

Heredia the City of flowers

Set on the flanks of the impressive Barva Volcano, the city of Heredia was founded a long time ago in 1706 and is affectionately known as "The City of Flowers" for its beautiful displays of Orchids and other flowers throughout its streets and on its inhabitants.

Additional Beautiful Architecture

A colonial church inaugurated in 1763 stands in the Central Park -- the stone facade leaves no questions as to the age of the church. The altar inside is decorated with neon stars and a crescent moon surrounding a statue of the Virgin Mary, while in the middle of the palm-shaded park is a music temple, and across the street, beside several tile-roofed municipal buildings, is the tower of an old Spanish fort. Of all the cities in the Meseta Central, Heredia has the most colonial feel to it, you'll still see adobe buildings with Spanish tile roofs along narrow streets. Heredia is also the site of the National Autonomous University, so you'll find some nice coffee shops and bookstores near the school.

Surrounding Heredia is an intricate maze of picturesque villages and towns, including Santa Bárbara, Santo Domingo, Barva, and San Joaquín de Flores. San Isidro de Heredia has a lovely, large church with an ornate facade.

If you are planning a trip to Costa Rica you can't miss Heredia!
